Filipa Ioannou

Filipa Ioannou is a Cypriot-American comedy writer and former journalist from New York City. Steeped in this unique blend of cultures, it was destiny that she become what she is today: a bad driver who loves yelling.

As a journalist, her byline has appeared in outlets like Slate, The Daily Beast, and the SF Chronicle. In 2021, Filipa was an inaugural recipient of Cord Jefferson’s Susan M. Haas TV Writing Fellowship, through which she wrote a half-hour pilot about our most wholesomely strange president, Meatless Monday-originator Herbert Hoover.

She is an alum of the Writers’ Access Support Staff Training Program and was most recently script coordinator on the forthcoming Amazon show Every Year After. She is a prolific dog-ogler, so you can trust her when she tells you that her dog is the most beautiful dog in all of Los Angeles.

Filipa is a writer for the Pack House sketch team UMAMI. You can catch UMAMI performing on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 9 pm. And in fact, you should!
