Mama Bird

Mama Bird is a house team with The Pack Theater. They’ve been performing together since late 2017.

Mama Bird is:
Justin Boisvert
David Rabinowitz
Darrin Bird
Karen Krantz
Jules Forde
Emily Farris
Hannah Sesser

Darrin Bird

Darrin is an actor, writer, improviser, and standup from Sacramento, but he’s lived in Los Angeles over half his life now so he considers it home (which is hard to admit). He’s a graduate of The Pack Theater improv and sketch programs and has studied improv and sketch all around town, including UCB-LA, iO West, and The Groundlings. He performed at the 2020 Austin Sketch Fest with his old team Royale and was part of a Jack Nicholson impersonation show, All About Jack, way back in the day.

You can see him at The Pack every fourth Wednesday with his awesome new sketch team Behemoth and every second and fourth Wednesday with his long-standing improv team Mama
Bird. Or catch him at an open mic somewhere, or acting in something. Or stalk him on the socials (usually just @darrinbird).

One time he rode an elevator with Charlize Theron and she made fun of him.

Justin Boisvert

Justin has been an improvisor at the Pack since the MSW-days. He improvised both in High School and college at USC. Justin has studied in programs at iO Chicago, iO West, UCB, Groundlings, but is still a garbage improviser; he is the definition of a lost cause.

Emily Faris

Emily is a actor/writer/director hailing from southern Sweden and Southern California. When she’s not gracefully humiliating herself on stage with her Mama Bird teammates, she likes to write creepy stories and act in them. Shout-out to her dead mom and living cats.

Jules Forde

Jules Forde is an actor, writer, and jack-of-all-trades renaissance man from North Carolina. Before moving to Los Angeles, Jules did a LOT of short form improv, community theater, and video sketches. He co-founded and worked as the primary sketch director for The Horrible Folks Comedy Show, a sketch/improv hybrid show that ran for 3 years in Fayetteville, NC. He enjoys baseball, dinosaurs, and sleeping. Since moving out West, Jules has studied improv and sketch at The Pack and UCB. You can find him performing on Improv Nights Mondays with Mama Bird,  and as part of the indie sketch group Duckboi. The bird team name thing is just a coincidence…probably.

Kelly Hernandez

Kelly Hernandez is a native of Los Angeles, with training from Second City, iO West, and The Pack Theater. On the weekends, Kelly teaches in the Kids & Teen Improv program at The Second City. She can be seen performing weekly Mama Bird and also performs monthly with her sketch team,  Daddy.

Karen Krantz

Highlighted by New York City’s Village Voice as a “comic treat,” Karen Krantz is a uniquely quirky stand up comedian, actor and writer who approaches her material with a vivid imagination of the absurd aspects of the world around us. Additionally, her act and solo show features offbeat, hilarious characters that she dreamed up along the way. Karen performs in film, TV and throughout the country including the Coach House, Pasadena’s Ice House and New York City. www.karenkrantz.com

David Rabinowitz

David is a screenwriter and performer from New Jersey. He has studied improv at the Second City Hollywood and the Pack Theater.

Hannah Rose Sesser

Hannah Rose is on the house team Mama Bird. She has graduated from improv programs at iO West and the Pack. She is also on an indie team called Juni. Hannah is also a stand up comedian and performs all over LA as well as many cities in the US.
